Meliá Coral Hotel Video
The service was excellent at this hotel throughout our two night stay. Upon arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a junior suite which was a welcome surprise. The food at the hotel was delicious, both at the restaurant near the pool and the buffet breakfast and dinner. The pool area is really nice. We spent most of our time there as the sea was not so pleasant to swim in - lots of weeds floating about (obviously not a fault of the hotel's). The internet was excellent too and worked outside by the pool as well as in the building. The one thing I would say is that I was shocked to see the stacks of towels arrive each morning at the towel stand wrapped in single use plastic. They were immediately unwrapped and go Ben to guests. A whole binbag was filled with this pointless plastic in a couple of hours- clearly this hotel has not started to reduce its singleuse plastic!
“Very good, 4star-like, adults-only hotel”
Overall a very nice place for couples
Great pool and sea side quite next by
Good price / value (esp. comparing to other 5star hotels)
Variety at breakfast
Room for improvement:
Quality of food at the beach bar could be improved -> rather go to the pool restaurant
sunbed reseveration is really annoying (I mean yes it's the people, but hotel is doing nothing against it)
paying extra for balinesion beds at sea might be questionable given the hotel categorie
bathroom requires some renovation cleanup (silicone, ...)
constant noise of the smoothie maker during breakfast - maybe this could be somehow improved
exchange of towels when not asking for - environment
overall I'd rather say this is a very good 4 star hotel, but I wouldn't say 5 stars - nevertheless we'd stay there again
Great stay with some flaws
We reserved our stay directly via the Melia homepage several months ago.
Premium Room with side ocean view with half board.
From outside the hotel is not so attractive but inside everything was nice.
From the check in and help by the porter onwards we met the really friendly staff.
Our room on the 2nd floor was really modern, large bed, many cushions, good working AC, view overlooking the little wood and the ocean.
There are 2 sea water pools and the beach , on both you find sun bed and if you want to pay 100 kona extra reserve on of the canopy beds
We enjoyed that it was more quiet aera and organized our trips ourselves.
Mostly we lay in the hammocks in the woods and loved it.
We also booked 2 times a massage at the Spa and would recommend it.
The only disappointed was the food.
fresh omlettes and pancakes for breakfast
a lot of fresh fruits
risotto - we loved every risotto
in the evening 2-3 dishes were the highlights like the whole cooked/steamed salmon.
coffee at breakfast but also from the coffee machine in the bar.
bread/roll quality really varied
all meat was deadly cooked except you talked directly to the cook and get the good meat medium
a lof of prepacked food and convenient products were used
the desserts except for the desserts on the special evening
The food in the restaurant next to the pool was much better
We stayed before 2 nights in Trieste and the difference in food was too obvious.
We used the little train to go in the city center, booked a boat trip, did a cycling and swam a lot in the pool and in the ocean.
Nice hotel, very helpful staff. Pool is a good size and drinks reasonably priced. Great restaurants fairly nearby (Badi and Toni our favourites). The sea is lovely and lots of fish and hammocks over the water. One point to note is that if you are booking under the impression the beach is adult only it is not - in Croatia all beaches are publically owned - most families do stay away but not all.
Very nice hotel. We have never been in a “adults only” hotel before and it was very relaxing, clean and luxurious. The staff was very nice, helpful and professional. The musicians that preformed in the evenings were many of them very good. One thing that I would like to mention is the use of straws in the bar which was hard to watch and also the use of plastic glasses not very environmental at all.
It was great.
Perfect service and perfect relaxation. The decoration are beautiful. The food was excellent. You can go for walks on the seaside, there are some path. There are enough deckchairs on the beach for every guests.
Spent a week here 17th ~ 24th June 2018. First trip to Croatia, travelled with Jet 2, loved it !
Nice rooms with good ensuite, brilliant cleaning staff, clean towels everyday even though we did not always leave them in the bath, there is no shortage of water in this area. All staff were really fantastic always attentive and smiling, nothing was too much trouble even helping as when we stumbled with pronounciation. We went B&B as we like to eat out, there were not that many restaraunts within easy walking distance, just two or three opposite, up the hill along with a supermarket and couple of shops. There is a tourist (road) train which stops just outside the hotel at the tourist info place which cost about £2:50 pp to ride into Umag where you can find more. The pool side restaraunt in the hotel was very good, we ate here a couple of times and once in the main buffet restaraunt which was good as far as buffets go. Breakfast was very good everything you could think of including stuff you wouldn't, one morning I was surprised to find sprouts! There was always a choice of around 6 juices including beetroot and tomato and other things you would expect such as cereals, breads, cheeses, meats as well as the usual eggs in various ways, bacon and sausages.
The pool area was spotlessly clean, with ample sun beads and parasols of differing sizes. A short walk through the pool area takes you to the private beach which is brilliant, first you come to a shady area of trees with sun beds beneath and hammocks hung from them, then the beach which as is very rocky has a concrete platform as most seem to have in the area with decking and several lots of steps going into the sea, which is beautifully crystal clear. Swimming shoes are a good idea as although the rocks are not rugged or sharp, they are smooth but very slippery, the hotel had even screwed non slip rubber matting on the steps going down into the sea which was brilliant. They have lots of sunbeds & parasols and the double bed type with canopies. It was very hot when we were there so this was the best place to be with that lovely sea breeze.
We did a couple of trips out arranged by our Jet 2 rep Laura who was great, everything ran very smoothly. The area of Istria is really lovely with lots f forested areas, really green and spotlessly clean, we saw no litter at all and we travelled as far as Porec, Rovinji and Pula.
I only have 2 small negatives of our room, there is not much storage space they could really do with a chest of drawers or different bed side tables which had just one very shallow drawer ended up using the chair for some stuff, even a hook on the back of the door would be good. The bathroom is lovely, has very good shower pressure and there was always hot water at anytime you needed it but has a sliding glass door which means you can hear and smell everything that is going on in there.
All in all a Fabulous hotel with excellent service. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I was visiting this area.
Beds are comfy, sleep quality 5/5, service 5/5, location 4/5
5 star setting in the Plava Laguna with a world class tennis academy just outside the entrance. Staff were very attentive and helpful and done with a smile. The restaurant is the only let down because although the food is good the atmosphere is more like a factory canteen.
Just want you want! PERFECT
Me and my family stayed here for a week! Which just wasn’t long enough! The hotel was very clean and facilities were excellent!!! The staff were very very friendly and it became like a home away from home. The food was good, and always had plenty of options. The spa with the indoor swimming pool was so relaxing and the outdoor pool was brilliant as well. Such a calming place to stay! Yes it was mainly older couples but quite a few young couples arrived when we did, and me (aged 22) and my sister (aged 20) loved every second!
I will be coming back next year and booking for longer next time!!
Holiday in Umag
We spent two weeks here and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody. Indeed we felt like staying longer it was so pleasant and relaxing. Every aspect of the hotel lived up to our expectations. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, spotlessly clean, lovely breakfast with many options(particular thanks to a lovely lady chef who with a smile served eggs exactly as requested), great seawater indoor and outdoor pool and a great private beach area. Would love to visit again.
