beautiful luxury hotel - absolute paradise

5/5 - September, 2018 Tripadvisor.com

This hotel lives up to all the previous reviews and is nothing short of fabulous. We booked a double swim up room (no 129) which only got the sun from 4pm each day but this was perfect. Sun loungers were easy to get in the morning and we never had any trouble finding one. The food is the best I have had abroad and the choice is great. The a la carte was first class and very chilled out. The staff are so, so nice and Sofia in the bar and Deppy in the restaurant were lovely. The manager is always around and I really don't think these poor people ever get a break but are always smiling. The only 2 points I would note that could improve the hotel are:
(1) - The all inclusive menu I think should include all drinks as is the case in most 5 star hotels. I onlt like sweet drinks so couldn't really find anything alcoholic that I liked (except the strawberry daiquir that I had to pay for
(2) - the entertainment at night could do with being a little more lively. I realise this is very much a chilled out hotel but as there is not much to do outside the hotel, I do think this could improve the experience even more but that's just my opinion.
If you are thinking of going then don't hesitate - it's just perfect.

Heaven on Earth!

To say this experience and resort was outstanding does not do enough justice. From the first interaction we had with Stella it was professional, personal & nothing was to difficult. We were personally greeted in the lobby by Dimitrios (the resort Manager) and he personally made sure throughout our stay 'nothing was too difficult'! We cannot explain the beauty of Stella Island, combined with perfection in its service standards making this stay our most memorable! We thank you all for allowing us to have the perfect stay.

Just perfect!

We visited the hotel after a very long period of hard work. We stayed 3 nights and we really get our strength back. Everything was absolutely perfect, the ambience, the room, the food, the spa. The staff was very friendly and fresh. We totally recommend it and we hope next year we will visit again!

I didn’t believe it!

In the words of Victor Meldrew, “I don’t believe it!” Could be said said of this place, as that’s because despite trying to find fault with the resort, I couldn’t find anything that is really worth mentioning.
The Stella Island Resort and Spa ‘machine’ works tirelessly to make your stay as near perfect as humanly possible. From the lovely, comfortable accommodation, to the range of food, staff and resort facilities almost everything is catered for.
Yes, there are planes going over frequently and the music is the same everyday but the sun is shining, you’re able to relax without any intrusion and the cocktails are perfectly acceptable - what’s really to moan about?
We were all inclusive and as well as visiting the Cabana and Kimata, we also enjoyed the Spa, Cretan Evening and Oceania throughout our two week stay - no issues whatsoever with any of our experiences, they were all rather entertaining and worth booking. The sunset in Oceania is stunning.
Staff are a mixed bunch, from the super efficient and professional to the huggers, to the indifferent - however, they are all committed and work long hours to ensure you enjoy your stay. Nothing is too much trouble and if anyone suspects you’ve got a problem, they’ll make sure they find out and deal with it ASAP!

There are currently building works being carried out to the rear of the resort to extend it further and I think that’s a shame as making something bigger doesn’t always make it better. It’ll be interesting to hear the reviews once it’s all completed.
Also, don’t be put off by the ‘professional/model’ looking photographs promoting the resort on social media, there’s all shapes and sizes holidaying there and everyone is so wrapped in being a couple you really don’t care.
We had a wonderful holiday full of sunshine, relaxation and cocktails - my husband totally made the right choice booking Stella Island but don’t tell him I said that!

Perfect place for a honeymoon!

I actually don’t know where to start with this review. after a crazy few weeks of working, wedding planning and actually getting married, a week here doing absolutely nothing was perfect.

This place is just incredible. We arrived and was welcomed with a welcome drink in reception whilst they were checking our room was ready. We were shown around the resort by a lovely lady and she took us to our overwater bungalow where we would be staying for the week. I can not recommend staying in one of these enough!! We were in number 4, and It was private, romantic and secluded without feeling too out of it. You share the main pool obviously but it is just so quiet you felt like you had the whole place to yourselves. We stayed all inclusive so we ate and drank basically everything for a week. It was definitely worth it. The food was to die for!! I’m a fussy eater but for once I wasn’t relying on pizza, pasta and chips. There were so many options and most the time it was hard to chose what to eat because we wanted to eat everything! Our mini fridge was also restocked every day and the cleaners came twice a day.

Which brings me on to the staff. Wow. I have never met such friendlier people anywhere else. Ever. These people genuinely love their job and want you to have the best time ever. They couldn’t do enough for you! They have a laugh with you, they hug you and they take care of you!

The entertainment was calming and not too loud or extravagant, which we thought was good. The first night we went to a traditional Greek night at vagera which was so much fun. We paid €20 and had a 6 course traditional Greek meal, listened to some Greek music and watched some Greek dancing- and even joined in!! The other nights there were singers, a saxophonist, a dj and even some mermaids!? The atmosphere ok wasn’t too buzzing, but that’s fine. It was calming and relaxed and most nights we sat on our decking watching it from there. We didn’t want wild loud nights because that’s not what you want on your honeymoon.

On the week anniversary of our wedding we ate at the oceana restaurant upstairs that you can eat for one night at of your stay included in your all inclusive package. The food was very posh, and portions fairly small but none the less still delicious! It was so romantic and the views of the sunser were spectacular.

A couple of minor issues were that at breakfast they would take your order for a drink and most of the time you would finish your breakfast before the drink came. Not sure why as this never happened at any other meal.
Also sometimes the room can smell a bit from the bathroom. but that’s not the hotel’s fault, it’s down to greece’s poor sewage system (you’re not allowed to flush toilet paper, but there’s nothing that actually tells you that so unfortunately unless people have done their research before, I wonder if people were actually doing this, hence the bad smell!?)

All in all, our couldn’t recommend this hotel enough! It is the perfect most romantic location for couples, especially for on your honeymoon! We are already planning a return trip for our 1 year wedding anniversary!

Travelled as a newly wed couple, stayed 18th August- 25th August.

Sensational resort, particularly the staff.

We arrived with a critical eye after reviewing all the other past comments from previous visitors.
We can only concur with the other reviews.
It is without doubt an outstanding resort, beautifully laid out and tastefully decorated.
We had a couple of niggles on the first couple of days but nothing was too much trouble and Vicky managed to smooth out our issues.
The layout of the resort allows all areas to get ample sun throughout the day.
We stayed in a premium pool view room, which was perfect for our stay, although some people were reserving sun beds at 7.00am, even though they had swim up rooms which we felt was a little unfair.
If we were to return we would probably opt for overwater bungalow 4-8 these seemed to get all day sun and weren't overlooked from the pool bar. Food selection and availability was fantastic for all meals whether it be in Kimata, Cabana, Oceania or Vergara.
Entertainment was fitting for the clientele, with some quality acts, we especially enjoyed the clarinet serenade at breakfast.
Finally, the very best thing about the resort are the staff. I will not mention specific names as they all work tirelessly to make sure all visitors are having the best time.
We would definitely recommend Stella Island.
Well done to all the team and many thanks for a wonderful holiday.

Just amazing!!!

Myself and my husband recently stayed at this luxurious hotel for a week and just found it amazing. We arrived early hours of the morning where we were greeted and kindly escorted to our room where a variety of snacks were provided. The rooms are designed with the best quality furniture and bed linen. The hotel, rooms and its grounds were immaculate. The staff were extremely friendly and always eager to please. The food was amazing in all of the restaurants with a wide variety for all, we would especially like to thank Deppy and Ann for being so friendly. The all-inclusive drinks list even had premium brands. There were plenty of sunbeds for everybody and the atmosphere was very chilled and relaxing. The pool staff were exceptional-working all day with a constant and genuine smiles!! Such a fabulous place, we honestly cannot state a fault!!. We will look forward to visiting again!!

Never felt so relaxed!

We stayed for a week in s premium pool view room. Room was huge. Facilities are great. Immaculately clean although sometimes the drains smell. We upgraded to all inclusive for three of the days. Works out cheaper to do once you are there.

Drinks are fab and the staff are lovely. Would recommend the white wine and the mojitos are great.

Pools are the cleanest I’ve even been in. Pool towels put in your room each day. Not enough sun beds really. Most were taken by 9am but the hotel was fully booked.

Breakfast is diverse and I would recommend paying for the Cretan night. Was great fun and the 6 courses were outstanding.

We ventured out to Hersonissos for two evenings. Taxi was 12 Euro each way. We also used the nail salon 5 mins down the road.

Overall very good and incredibly relaxing. Went home feeling refreshed!

Wow wow wow

A week here for our wedding anniversary and what a celebration we won't forget. We booked one of the over water bungalows which was just picture perfect. The staff are a credit, always smiling & nothing is too much trouble. The food, although not as much choice as some all inclusives I've been to, the quality is by far the best. The sunsets on the beech are too beautiful to forget. You certainly wouldn't regret booking a holiday here xx

Wow!! 5 Stars is not enough....

So we are just preparing to leave Stella Island after the best week ever. A week in paradise, I don’t know where to begin.
I am sitting here writing this review by the most beautiful lagoon style pool wishing I had booked to stay here for longer than a week.
We arrived one week ago as a family of 8. Being all different ages it can be hard to keep everyone happy however Stella Island is the perfect retreat for everyone, especially if you’re a fan of impeccable service and stunning surroundings.
We opted to stay in luxury swim up rooms (Rooms 104,105,106,107) and we would do the same again. The rooms are spacious and clean with beautiful light wood furniture and the comfiest bed you will ever sleep in. Upon arrival to our room we had club sandwiches waiting along with a Greek salad and some fruit. After a four hour delay at Gatwick this was a nice touch and was exactly what was needed. Being taken to the room by a golf buggy was a taster of the great service that we were due to receive for the entire week. Minibar is restocked daily at no charge to all inclusive guests.
Definitely opt for all inclusive! The food is so tasty in all restaurants. Breakfast has a huge array of everything you could possibly want including crepes, omelettes and fried eggs cooked to order- very quickly and possibly the best omelette I’ve ever eaten!
Nikos and Deppy in the main restaurant (buffet) deserve a special mention. Nikos- you are fantastic at what you do, the service has been amazing and every request we ever had was catered for. Deppy made a special effort to remember all 8 of our parties names and greeted us individually daily. This is amazing considering the amount of people she greeted on a daily basis. All other staff were great but these two stood out for us!
The pool bar staff also do a great job and were so happy and friendly each day. Nikos (different to the Nikos mentioned above), Efi and Kostas were especially helpful and we will miss them!
Try the milkshakes!! They are so thick and creamy and worth the extra charge, they are THAT good!! So many branded spirits were included including Bombay gin etc. Cosmopolitans are really good as well as mojitos and so many other classic cocktails!
The White store opposite the hotel is so cute! It has everything a convenience store would stock on one side, and on the other it stocks gorgeous jewellery, clothes, shoes and bags. We all purchased anklets and other pieces on our first day and went back many times for lilos, crisps, ice cream and whatever we needed.
The spa/gym- the gym is small but has a few cardio machines, lots of free weights and some weight machines as well as mats for floor work. I did a couple of workouts during my stay and would’ve liked to run along the beach had it been cooler. The spa is so tranquil and has panoramic views of the resort and sea as well as neighbouring islands. You can enjoy the infinity pool free of charge however the sauna and jacuzzi is extra at €10ph. I didn’t bother using these facilities however they would have been worth the extra charge just for how beautiful the spa settings were. A member of our party had a massage and would recommend!
Don’t bother with the beach. You have to walk/golf buggy through the neighbouring Stella Palace resort and the beach isn’t really great. When I did venture out, the whole time I was wishing I was back at the resort. This isn’t down to Stella Island or the Stella group, it is a public beach.
Water sports however were good. They were approx a 15 minute stroll from the resort. Cheap and fun!
There is so much more I could say, I could be here all day but unfortunately I have to get ready to go back to the rainy UK! My parents have already booked for next year and I myself will definitely be returning. This place is truly amazing, it is a pure gem on the island of Crete and I don’t have a bad word to say about it! AMAZING!! Xxx

P.s- whilst sat here waiting, Sofia at the bar has walked over to give us some large, cold bottles of water for our trip. As we have checked out already, she didn’t need to do this. It is just another of the cute little touches the hotel add constantly to ensure you have the best time. Sofia has been so helpful throughout our stay and I should have already mentioned her above! Thank you!
