When To Go
Traditional tourist visit period is April to mid-October. Peak holiday season is between June and August, as temperatures reach into the 30s. Hottest months are usually July and August. During this time all the restaurants and bars will be open and the island is busy with a natural buzz about it. June and September normally deliver fine sunny days and moderate-to-hot temperatures. Water is warm enough for swimming. Crete can also be a pleasure in winter when you can visit the museums and archaeological sites and enjoy the island’s delightful towns without the crush of crowds.
