A fabulous long weekend at the Sotavento
The management of Sotavento Apartments have thought of everything to make your time in Magaluf run smoothly. From speaking to the charismatic Enrique, the Reservations Manager via email, before our trip when we thought we had mistakenly booked on an 18 to 30 trip in error (we are somewhat older), to checking out four days later when he gave us a hug and we gave him a promise we would return, Enrique and the staff at the Sotavento were friendly and extremely helpful at all times. The apartments are perfect for a busy “going out” weekend with plugs in all the right places, TVs in the living and bedroom areas, and some apartments facing the pool and with lovely sea views (we stayed in 205 but 211 also had the same view). The pool area is fun ..with a bar and music daily ..but it is not invasive at all – it just adds to the whole experience. In September you did no’t have to worry about being surrounded by young glam people, it was a mixture of stag and hen do’s with all ages and a few birthday parties (like ours) chucked in.
The onsite restaurant provides straight forward tasty food (especially the hangover breakfast) and all at reasonable prices. There is a supermarket attached to the hotel that can supply all your alcohol/snack needs if you want to stay on your balcony (and other items like plugs etc that you may have forgotten), again all at reasonable prices.
Ignore the reports of the prostitutes who allegedly hang around the top of the hill hoping to rob some drunken kids as they return to the apartments, they certainly were not there in September when we visited. However, unless you are an accomplished mountaineer , do not ignore the comments about Cardiac Hill that Sotavento sits at the top of. It is very steep but this is easily dealt with because the Sotavento staff will order you a taxi within minutes, and you can pick one up at the bottom without hassle for just a few Euros. To be fair, you do not have to walk too far down the hill before you hit the first cocktail bar, so that definitely makes it easier. Choose your month to visit wisely ..May was ok but lots of young ones around as that is the beginning of the mad Summer season, but September was perfect for us being a bit more mature (50s). I cannot recommend Sotavento Apartments enough …you will not regret it. Send my love to Enrique who, despite having a lot of guests, remembered our names at all times. He really is the best :)
PS: Air conditioning worked a treat - but only when the balcony doors were shut !
Amazing time in Sotavento
excellent hotel with excellent food and me,my mum, sister and niece have just returned home after a few days we spent in this hotel and we r going to return next year.the staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are very clean
Amazing time in sotavento👍
Spent few days in sotavento as a solo traveller. The Hotel was exceptional. Very good and friendly atmosphere in the hotel. Helpful and friendly staff especially Anuca, Adriana, Lewis.Hotel was spotless.. I will defo be back here next year🍾👌
Amazing hotel and staff.
Just returned from a friend's 50th birthday at Sotavento Hotel Magaluf.
From our arrival and checking in with Enrique who was so welcoming and friendly. Room 205 had a great sea view also overlooking the pool area.
Restaurant was great value and good food.
Nothing has been left out in this hotel. Plenty of plug sockets near mirrors so no bad hair days.
Cleanliness of the hotel was amazing no rubbish or dirt anywhere. Staff always around to help and they are all so friendly.
Would recommend anyone to go to this hotel maybe choosing September October for those people 50 plus just because it's a bit quieter.
There were a few stag and hen parties there but they were so respectful of other holiday makers it was a pleasure to watch them having fun.
Will definitely go back to this hotel.
Just arrived back after staying at these apartments for my hen doo, all 15 of us found the apartments amazing, fab atmosphere around the pool, big shout out to Lewis at the bar who kept the drinks flowing, the hotel was clean good food and any issues was dealt with straight away. we found the apartments to be in a good location with the strip minute away,I have had an amazing time and we said we would def come back again.
Great hotel with the perfect location
We stayed here for a hen do last week as a groups of 10, absolutely perfect place to stay, music round the pool all day and just so chilled and relaxing. Great location right at the top of the strip with a really good atmosphere. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, the food was really good and not badly priced. Will definitely go back again.
We have just returned home from an amazing holiday in maga. We had booked an apartment for 4 of us and Enrique had upgraded us to the max suite which was beautiful and had everything that we needed! The staff were all very helpful and the food was amazing ( hangover cure breakfast!)
Thank you too everyone at sotavento, hopefully we will be returning next year but at the weekend as we missed the pool parties!
The hotel itself was beautiful, I wasn’t expecting much considering it was a cheap hotel but it was gorgeous, really modern and up to date, decorated beautiful, the pool was lovely, the staff were great especially Enrique who I think was the manger he was always really helpful and remembered everyone’s names, there were lots of stag and hen parties but it was never too loud as the hotel has a policy to turn off music after midnight, and he maids never come in to early in the morning they come in the afternoon which is good, the only downfall is the location at the top of a steep hill, but it was well worth it, plenty of clubs around and places to eat, and a taxi to Palma was only €5, really reccomened this hotel to couples/stag parties.
Fantastic service makes this hotel
I was waiting for my party to arrive, when I was greeted by Adrian. He really went the extra mile on the first night and throughout my stay to make our trip unforgettable. His colleague Antonio was also super friendly and ready to go the extra mile. These guys are fantastic are are an asset to the establishment. Great work guys, would highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit the area.
Best hotel in Magaluf
Most definitely the best hotel in Magaluf. Enrique made our stay incredible and answered all of our questions, I absolutely recommend speaking to him when you get there as he made sure we knew the places to go in the area and the cheapest places for drinks. I can't speak highly enough of him, he was hilarious and always made sure we all were having a great time. It's located about a minutes walk from the strip and has a cafe which is perfect for food when you eventually wake up and theres also a hotel supermarket to buy drinks, food, plasters etc. The pool is always lively and has great music with a DJ that always cracked us up. Definitely the nicest rooms you'll get for your money and by far the best location in Magaluf/
Mallorca is an island of contrasts. Considered by many as one of the most beautiful places in Spain, the island is a place where to get lost and live a unique experience. The 550 kilometres of coastline is home to everything from long beaches of white and ochre sand in the south-east, with full amenities and services, to the hidden coves in the north, marvellous beauty spots for the more adventurous visitor.
The island is rich in culture and activities, so you won’t be short of things to see and do while you are here. There are many different international festivals of classical music, jazz, pop, and rock. All this and more can be experienced with a visit to one of many cultural events.
Activities like crazy golf, tree top adventure, paintballing and go-karting are some of the most popular. Perhaps you would be tempted by with some rock climbing, coasteering or mountain biking.
Spending one or two days discovering Palma de Mallorca is a must when visiting Mallorca. You can also go on a tour of a distinctive City Sightseeing open-top bus, which gives you a great overview of Mallorca’s capital.
With 262 beaches around the island, Mallorca is a paradise for the sun, sand, and sea lover. Long sandy beaches can be found on all the coasts except for the west, which is dominated by cliffs and rocky coves. For pretty sandy coves with sparkling seas, head to the east coast.
Stroll around one of Mallorca’s beautiful small villages and you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back in time. Try the legendary towns of Deià and Valldemossa, hidden in the hills of the Tramuntana mountain. Sóller has amazing architectural gems and a rich history.
