The Hotel Colón Guanahaní, a small, charming 4-star hotel in Tenerife, is a favorite for many and since November 2013 it is a hotel for adults only. Good for a solo traveller
This is an adult only hotel and is very peaceful. It is spotlessly clean and all the staff are very helpful. It is only 10 minutes walk from the beach. Breakfast is at 0700, lunch at 1230 and dinner 1830. I booked a room over looking the pool as I had read these were very quiet and they were. There are two pools one with a disabled hoist if you need it. There is also a roof pool with nice views of the sunset. The sun loungers are very comfortable and you can change the pool towels every day. I would stay here again as a solo and recommend it to other solos
An amazing 50th Wedding Anniversary stay!
We stayed at this amazing hotel from 4-9 October for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary and we could not have been anywhere better! The rooms were beautiful, so clean and everything you could need. We had fruit and champagne in our rooms when we arrived! I would have loved to bring the shower home with me! The pools were lovely and the provision of sun bed and swimming towels was very welcome! The breakfast was lovely, very fresh and plenty of choice, the waiter Riccardo made us smile every morning and caught us out with his jokes! On my parents anniversary we were treated so well and thoroughly spoilt! They had a salver of canapés delivered to their room together with a bottle of champagne which we all shared and were delicious! We had our evening meal at the a la carte restaurant next to the pool and again were spoilt rotten! The table was decorated beautifully and the service we received from Dorta, our waiter, was second to none. The food was out of this world and the setting beautiful - we couldn’t have hoped for a better celebration! I had a wonderful pedicure whilst here and it was like walking on air afterwards! I can not recommend this hotel and it’s staff highly enough, if you can stay here do - you won’t be disappointed!! Many thanks to Ernesto for all his assistance to mum and dad.
We spent a week here recently, The hotel is excellent, absolutely spotlessly clean, polite and friendly staff. The whole experience was really relaxing. It's in a nice central location, about 5 mins walk from shopping centres, banks, supermarkets, restaurants and the beach. Its not as huge as some of the hotels in the area, and I think as a result you get a better personal service. The room was large with a lovely bathroom, walk in wardrobe, safe, smart TV, bar, aircon and balcony overlooking the pool area.
We stopped on a B&B basis. The food was excellent, a huge range of choice including a chef cooking things to order, the restaurant staff provided great service.
The pool areas were great, plenty of sunbeds around either 2 pools and a bar/restaurant area, or a roof top option. The whole hotel was very clean and tidy.
We had a really relaxing time here, would definitely go back and highly recommend.
Another lovely stay at the Colon Guanahani!
I’m just back from my 3rd visit to this lovely hotel, and once again it didn’t fail to meet my expectations. I couldn’t have the room I had asked for as it was already occupied but fortunately for me, I think room 325b has a better sea view so I really wasn’t disappointed. It was lovely to see all the same staff who make this hotel stand out from it’s competition, everyone from reception, restaurant, pool bar and housekeeping are just so friendly and obviously enjoy their work. A special mention to the maintenance team, who responded very quickly after an accident ( unfortunately I cracked one of the window panes when I moved the sun lounger on my balcony) this was sorted within a couple of hours of me reporting it to reception. The food as ever was lovely and I already miss breakfasting outside surrounded by the beautiful palms. I will definitely be coming back here on my next visit to Tenerife and would without doubt recommend this hotel to everyone who likes comfortable, peaceful and relaxing surroundings. A big thank you to of you for making my holiday so lovely.
Great Location, Great service.
Stayed here for nine nights in a Superior Twin. The hotel was clean, the rooms a good size and the en-suites have a bath & a shower. The rooms have TV, mini bar, hair dry & safe as well as plenty of wardrobe/storage space and a small seating area As we were on the ground floor our room had a small terrace overlooking the main pool. The most impressive thing however was the fact no matter the time of day there was always sun beds available. The sun beds were in pairs, sharing a table & umbrella and were arranged around the pool(s). The hotel had a no reserving policy, which was of course ignored by most, but if you reserved a sun bed but failed to turn up by mid morning your towels, books etc were removed. We only wish more hotels followed this example. In addition there is a roof top pool with yet more sun beds. We were staying on a B&B basis, the buffet breakfast offered the usual array of cooked & cold offering, all of which were fresh and of good quality. Most days we opted to have lunch at the La Pergola poolside, which offer a reasonable choice of dishes, we mainly shared a sandwich or salad with fries as we didn't want a big lunch, so in this respect perhaps there could of been a wider choice of small plates. In the evenings there was entertainment mainly singers, which made for a pleasant backdrop to the evening. All the staff were warm, friendly& helpful. Overall would recommend if you want to be near the bars & restaurants for the evenings and want a quiet oasis during the day with a sun bed & umbrella guaranteed.
Second visit and would go back again and again. Accommodation great, staff very attentive and breakfast just what is needed. Even received a thank you gift and personal call to thank us for returning to the hotel. Couldn't ask for more. We will be back.
The hotel is small almost boutique
The rooms are excellent well laid out and furnished
Second time here and already booked for next year
Staff first class food first rate I can find no negatives about this hotel
It says 4 star above the door it is well above that
Well done to Colon Guanahani staff and management made our second visit very personal
Would not hesitate to recommend
From the sandy beaches in the south, to the lunar landscape of Mount Teide, this sun-kissed island is the largest of the Canaries and is blessed with an eternal spring-like climate. This island welcomes millions of people every year who are looking for relaxation, adventure, good times and fantastic weather.
Without a doubt, Tenerife’s most famous place is the Teide National Park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007. The best way to reach the highest point of the peak is by cable car. Once at the top, you can walk around and take in the amazing sights.
If you want to explore further the culture of the people of Tenerife, you should visit the museums and art galleries in the island’s capital, Santa Cruz, and enjoy traditional festivals. The capital, Santa Cruz hosts the second largest carnival in the world, second only to Rio de Janeiro Brazil. Every February it attracts around a million people from the island and all around the world.
The fantastic weather in Tenerife makes it the perfect holiday destination for people who love sport and leisure activities. The crystal clear waters make it ideal for diving and snorkelling, whilst beaches with large waves are a favourite with surfers, windsurfers and kiteboarders from around the world.
Tenerife has an active nightlife in resorts like Costa Adeje, Playa de Las Americas, Puerto de la Cruz and Los Cristianos. There are literally hundreds of bars, restaurants, nightclubs, pavement cafes and fast food establishments to choose from.
